Super Mario Forums
Tue 1 Jul 2008 - 12:59 by The Monkey Man
One day, I thought that I should make a forum about Mario. And here it is!
The forum is a place to talk about Mario and share secrets, post tips, and other stuff.
If you're a guest to this forum, please click the 'Register' button!
As you know, you may see some unexpected changes going on, as the forum is still in development. It also needs YOUR ideas, so if you have an idea, PM it to The Monkey Man, and we will consider if we can use it.

Don't have time to run a forum anymore, and I find it ironic to be a teenage guy hosting a PG-rated forum. It just seems limited, and uncomfortable, and pretty sad. And this forum is not popular at all, so it's just a waste of time. So closing at end of May.
SMBF is now PG!
Fri Oct 01, 2010 1:05 am by The Monkey Man
In the past few weeks, moderators have had a debate on whether we should change the site's rating to PG or not. We went with the idea, so now SMBF is PG!
The rules are still pretty strict, but they're much looser than before. You can now say crap and sucks (if you don't use them inappropriately), and you can talk about mild personal relationship content. Please read the rules again, as we've updated them a LOT.
The Points System is back, and better than ever!
Mon Sep 13, 2010 9:47 am by The Monkey Man
Unfortunately, to encourage people not to post JUST to get points, I had to remove points gained from posts and threads posted. Sorry for any inconvienience, but keep in mind that even though the forum is over two years old, it's still being developed.
We have also renamed 'Points' to 'Coins', to fit with the Mario theme
Anyway, 'Coins' are now the forum's official currency. With coins, you can use them to buy stuff like official personalized forum art, userpages, and much more, located around the forum! you gain Coins by the following ways:
- Days since registration - 1 coin
- Report a rule-breaking post* - 5 coins
- Donate 1 US Cent** - 10 coins
- Recruit a member - 50 coins
- Get a job for the Super Mario Spotlight - 100 coins
- Get a stickied thread - 200 coins
- Become the top poster*** - 500 coins
- Become a mini-mod/moderator**** - 1337 coins
- Become an administrator**** - 9001 coins
We hope you enjoy this new feature!
* = This only applies if the post actually breaks a rule. If a mod looks over the reported message that breaks no rules, the user who reported it will NOT recieve any points.
** = This means that just US$1 could get you 1000 more points!
*** = Spamming and unwanted posts will just be deleted, and if you're the top poster and your posts are not needed, posted just to increase your post count, posted merely to get to the Top Posters/Recent Posts, or posted just to litter the forums, you will NOT recieve the points.
**** = Keep in mind that mini-mods, moderators, and administrators are chosen by the admins, who, when a job position is open, look over the members and see who would be good as a mod. Asking lowers your chances.

Post, post, POST! :O
Thu May 13, 2010 8:50 am by The Monkey Man
I just wanted to remind you all to try to stay as active as possible, and to try and post and participate in threads frequently. The last few weeks have been the quietest in the history of the forum, and I would like to remind you that more posts = more members = a bigger community!
And please be aware that just because we asked you to post more, you still have to follow the rules. This means no posting if the post isn't needed (or to say 'that's cool', 'okay', etc.), no Spamming (Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages), or any other way of posting that break the rules.
Some rules that I wanted to point out.
Tue Aug 24, 2010 2:26 pm by The Monkey Man
Some members, especially new members, have been breaking rules frequently. May I remind you that rules must be followed, NO exception.
These are the most commonly broken rules:
- We do not like 'grave digging'. Do not post on threads that haven't been replied to for 60 days or more unless you are going to post something constructive.
- Don't advertise your websites in your posts, signatures or avatars: if you wish to do so, please put it in the website section in your profile. If you joined only to advertise your site, then this also will be treated as a severe rule.
- Do not link to any website that contains or encourages use of weapons, gore, and/or dr*gs. If you have a suspicion about a website you want to post, be sure to ask a moderator if it is okay to post.
- Don't join the forums unless you're going to post at least ONE post. If you join and don't post at all, you will get deleted without warning after 30 days.
- Don't post if the post is not needed, post just to increase your post count, post merely to get to the Top Posters/Recent Posts or litter the forums.
Every single rule applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, profiles, avatars and signatures.
Please read the rules carefully as there is no valid reason for violating ANY policy, especially with the excuse "I didn't know it was a policy." "I haven't read the rules yet." or "I didn't think that was the meaning of that rule." Ignorance of any of the rules is never acceptable, no matter how strict the rule is.
If you don't know whether or not your actions violate the site rules, or do not understand the rule and/or why it's there, you should refrain from doing that action and ask an Administrator or Moderator before proceeding. Please respect the SMBF staff, as they are the authority of this forum. Speaking to them with intentional spite will not be tolerated and may result in the loss of your forum privileges, and keep in mind that Moderators and Administrators have final say about what happens on this site and their decisions are are final, and not subject to discussion. Anyone who argues or disrespects a moderator or administrator will recieve a permanent ban.

Userpages and Blogs are open!
Sat Apr 10, 2010 3:28 am by The Monkey Man
During the almost-two-year history of this forum, I have seen NO donations. Not even a single cent. So we thought "If they donate, why not offer them something back?" And that led into the opening of the Userpages and Blogs forum!
Getting a userpage/blog for yourself costs a one-time fee of $2 (US Dollars). With these userpages/blogs, you can talk about anything you like, edit it how many times you like, personalise it as much as you like, and much more! But please be aware that the rules applied to userpages and blogs are the same ones that are applied to posts. Please also be aware that double posting will not be tolerated in your userpages/blogs - it's easier to edit the first post instead
Have fun with your userpages!
Read the rules!
Thu Sep 03, 2009 6:59 am by The Monkey Man
We've noticed the increase in members recently, and that's good. But unfortunately, not many of them have been reading the rules!
So please read them here, and follow all of them whilst posting!
We know that you are all good members, but we need you guys to know these to avoid getting into trouble, and dragging visitors away from the site.
All guidelines and policies apply to Super Mario Forums. All guidelines and policies apply to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, profiles, avatars and signatures.
Please read carefully as there is no valid reason for violating ANY policy, especially with the excuse "I didn't know it was a policy." "I haven't read the rules yet." or "I didn't think that was the meaning of that rule." Ignorance of any of the rules is never acceptable, no matter how strict the rule is.
If you don't know whether or not your actions violate the site rules, or do not understand the rule and/or why it's there, you should refrain from doing that action and ask an Administrator or Moderator before proceeding. Keep in mind that Moderators and Administrators have final say about what happens on this site and their decisions are are final.
Also, please keep in mind that the rules may change unexpectedly, so please check them at least once a week.
We can detect if you have read the rules, and if we haven't found you have read the rules yet, we might ban you without warning!
We want Super Mario Forums to be a safe, friendly community, so make sure you follow all of them!
